Body waxing

Body waxing has, with good reason, been steadily gaining popularity as a safe and affordable form of hair removal. Even though it's relatively simple, if you've never tried it before it can be a little scary for a first-timer. The worst part is always the unknown. What should you expect? Here are some of the most common questions that I've been asked about what to expect from a personal waxing service -- and the answers apply, whether you're considering waxing your legs, your eyebrows, or your bikini area.

Q. What length does the hair on my body have to be to get a successful wax?

You should let your hair grow out a little so the wax has something to grab on to. If you have at least a 1/4" growth of hair, you should get good results. That would be about a 2 to 3 week growth of hair, more or less depending on how your own hair grows. Some say this is the most uncomfortable part of the process; letting your hair grow and not shaving.

Q. Is there anything I need to know to prepare my skin for waxing?

You must have no sun exposure for the 48 hours prior to waxing. About 2 or 3 days before you come in for the waxing, lightly exfoliate the area to be waxed, using any exfoliator that you would typically use on your body. Don't over-scrub, just as you would gently exfoliate your face. On the day of your waxing, be sure you thoroughly cleanse the area being waxed, but do not exfoliate, and do not apply any oils, lotions, powders, perfumes, etc.

Eyebrow hair removal

It is not unusual for men to have hair transplant surgery for male pattern baldness. Even female baldness is discussed on commercials for hair transplant clinics. A less common use of hair transplant surgery is to replace eyebrow hair. However, this procedure is quite different from other hair transplant surgeries.

It is important to replace eyebrow hair that has fallen out because it is such an integral part of the human face. People realize that men have receding hair lines and balding on the tops of their heads. It is not out of the ordinary to see a woman with thinning hair. Yet, look at a person without eyebrows and the effect will be disturbing. Eyebrows are just expected.

Some people have hair transplant surgery to their eyebrows because the hair has simply fallen out over time. Others have thyroid disease or other diseases that affect their hair. A certain type of alopecia results in eyebrow loss. Excessive plucking can be a problem, too. Burns, tattoos, and infections can cause the eyebrow hair to fall out, and some people just are not able to grow eyebrows at all.

Hair transplant surgery for eyebrows is different because eyebrows are different from scalp hair. For one thing, the hair has a distinct growth pattern with each section of the eyebrow pointing in a different direction. The hair forms a sharp angle so that it grows out and then flat to the face. Scalp hair has a much gentler angle.

Eyebrow hairs do not grow in the same type of follicular units as scalp hair. Rather than growing in groups of one to four hairs, they are simply single strands of hair. You can see this if you look carefully in the mirror at your eyebrows. Hair transplant methods have to take this fact into account.

Hair removal techniques

There is this popular saying that if you cannot style, color, or decorate your hair, then you should remove it. And many women have adopted this attitude towards their body hair, because unwanted body hair are not only embarrassing, but also lower people's self esteem.

Luckily, several options for body hair removal are available. Many women and some men usually resort to plucking, trimming or tweezing methods, but none of these yields total satisfaction. Other options like hair growth inhibitors, permanent electrolysis machines, hair removal creams, and permanent body hair removal, can also be used, but this will depend on the type of hair you wish to remove.

Those interested in proper body hair need to consult a professional for two reasons; either to carry out the treatment or to offer tips regarding the purchase of the materials you will need to perform the procedure yourself.

The objective of the body hair removal must also be put into consideration. Are you removing the hair temporarily so that you can look better in swim wears? or is it to permanently remove the unwanted hair on your face.

Body hair removal can be done in many ways. The traditional method of shaving is still very much in use, and it has the advantage of being easy, less expensive, and very fast. But its greatest limitation is the tendency of the hair to grow back rapidly. Products referred to as depilatories can also be used, and they remove unwanted hair by dissolving it through the use of chemicals. This method for body hair removal is equally fast, but you must ensure that your skin is not sensitive to the chemicals. Always seek the opinion of a professional before using this method.

Brazilian hair removal

Brazilian waxing is rapidly gaining popularity as an effective and long-lasting way to remove unwanted pubic hair on the pubic area, anus, vagina and perineum. Although it generates the greatest amount of pain compared to other pubic hair removal techniques, many women still swear by Brazilian waxing because the pubic hair stays gone for up to a month. A justifiable trade for long term pleasure in exchange for short term pain.

What is the Difference Between Brazilian Waxing and Bikini Waxing?

Most people people confuse bikini waxing with Brazilian waxing. Bikini waxing involves only to the waxing of the pubic hair along the bikini line. This is recommended for first-timers to get a feel of the waxing process without going through the full waxing process . There are a few types of Brazilian waxing. You could opt to have all your pubic hair removed or leave a small portion of pubic hair in any design you want but usually a "landing strip" design is the norm.

Where Can I Get A Bikini Wax?

You could Brazilian wax at home by yourself with a home waxing kit. The good thing about having a Brazilian wax at home is that you do not need to show your genitalia to a stranger if that bothers you. A good home waxing kit only costs $20 or less, which will help you save a lot of time and money in the long haul. The trouble is you can't really see areas like your anus and perineum from your angle. It would be a real headache for you to wax these areas by yourself.

Bikini hair removal

Skin around the pubic area is very sensitive and bikini line hair removal can be a quick route to all sorts of skin problems if it’s not done properly. Ingrown hairs, razor bumps, blood spots and red and sore skin are just some of them. Here’s a list of what you shouldn’t do if you want not only a hairless bikini line but a smooth one too.
Shaving
Don’t use a throwaway, switchblade or man’s razor for a pubic hair shave. Use a good quality female safety razor. Make sure the blade is sharp. Using a blunt blade to shave pubic hair will make skin irritations even more likely.
Don’t shave pubic hair too close to the skin, or shave the same area more than twice. You’ll increase your risk of getting ingrown hairs and skin problems if you do.
Don’t shave bare skin during a pubic hair shave. You’ll get razor burns. And don’t use a shaving cream for men or soap as a lubricant. Use a gel or cream for bikini line hair removal. Apply liberally.
Don’t shave inflamed or bleeding skin. You’ll make matters much worse and lastly don’t shave while you’re cold. The razor or shaver will catch your goose bumps.
Waxing
Don’t get a bikini wax just before heading for the beach. You’re skin will be red and sore for at least 24 hours after a bikini wax.

Waxing hair removal

Waxing is a well-known method of hair removal that is used by men and women both. The good thing about this method is that it can be done in the privacy of your home, or if you prefer, you can also visit a beauty salon, as waxing hair removal has become a popular method everywhere.

It is important to understand what the process of waxing hair removal is and to follow certain tips to avoid side effects.

Waxing is done to remove unwanted hair from the body and the results are very satisfactory. It can last for a long period of time - anywhere between three to eight weeks. This will differ from person to person, as this depends on the skin and hair type, and also the hair growth rate.

You have to careful while doing waxing at home. Read the instructions of the product carefully and make sure you follow them. The wax needs to be heated, so it is important that you stick to the time limit given in the instructions. Then check the temperature of the product first by applying the wax to a small area to avoid any burns.

The area on which the wax is to be used has to be completely dry. Place a small layer of the wax on the area where the hair has to be removed. It has to be applied in the direction that the hair is growing. After that, place the enclosed strip by pressing it over the waxed area as indicated in the instructions. Make sure that you leave a small portion of the strip at the end free of the wax, keeping in mind that it has to be pulled back in the opposite direction that the wax was applied.

Unwanted hair removal

When you have made the decision to rid yourself of unwanted hairs there are two choices to consider electrolysis and laser. As with electrolysis, cases of scarring have been reported, but these are extremely rare. Compared with electrolysis, laser hair removal is more precise and much faster. Electrolysis is intended to be a permanent hair procedure, but much like laser hair removal, it is not guaranteed to be 100% effective. Prior to laser technology, the only options for removing unwanted hair were smelly hair removal creams, sharp razors, stinging wax or painful electrolysis needles. In fact, laser technology is already eliminating the need for these traditional methods.

Almost anybody who has undesirable hair is a candidate for laser hair removal. Both men and women have found laser technology beneficial for hair removal. A common area where laser hair removal is used is the face, chin, and upper lip on women. Another area to receive laser hair removal for women is the legs.

For laser hair removal to work, the light energy is selectively absorbed by highly pigmented hair fibers and hair follicles. So, less laser energy is required to remove upper lip hair than for pubic hair. Several wavelengths of laser energy have been used for hair removal, from visible light to near infrared radiation. In facial hair removal, a low energy laser beam is directed towards a group of hair follicles.

Current laser hair removal techniques use wavelengths of light that target melanin, the pigment that determines color of both hair and skin. The level of pain depends on the patient and the person's skin and hair type. The presence of a suntan makes hair removal less effective and increases the likelihood of scarring or skin injury. As such, skin color must be taken into consideration. The risks can include skin discoloration, swelling, and infection. Generally, patients with dark hairs and fair skin respond best to laser hair removal.
